Is this the game you are looking for?
Galactic Racer is the modern racing game. It includes vehicle classes beyond podracers, so use the Steam listing if you want to compare the races and machines in this title before buying.
Start by learning one class
Pick a machine and repeat a route before switching. Learning where you can safely gain speed makes it easier to tell whether a different handling style will help.
