About Chess Offline: Play & Review

Developer description, as provided in the original store listing.

Chess for one or two players, with its own engine, its own guide and no strings: no ads, no in-app purchases, no account and no internet. Play on the clock or without one, solve thousands of puzzles, train your openings — and when a game is over have every move you played graded.

PLAY THE COMPUTER
• Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard and Grandmaster — or an adaptive opponent that grows stronger as you do
• The engine is the app's own and runs on your device; Hard and Grandmaster open out of a book of more than 80 named lines, so they don't play the same game over and over
• Queue a premove while the computer thinks

TWO PLAYERS, ONE DEVICE
• Pass the phone across the table, or lay it flat between you with each side's pieces facing its player
• Draw by agreement, and Resign for a game that is already decided

ON THE CLOCK
• Bullet, blitz, rapid and classical presets, or your own minutes and increment
• The clock pauses when you leave the app, warns when time runs short, and a flag that falls against a bare king is a draw, as the rules say
• On the clock the computer budgets its own time
• A chess clock for a game on a real board, with increment, delay or Bronstein, and time odds

CHESS960, VARIANTS AND ODDS
Fischer Random from any of its 960 positions, King of the Hill and Three-check, and the classical pawn, knight, rook and queen odds.

PUZZLES
About four thousand tactics from the Lichess database, built into the app: rated puzzles with a rating of your own, 32 themes from mate in one to zugzwang, a daily puzzle with a streak and a home-screen widget, and races against the clock. Best of all, the mistakes from your own reviewed games come back as puzzles to fix.

TRAINING
• Opening trainer: the computer plays its side of a book line, you play yours
• Analysis board with a live engine evaluation and its best move drawn on the board
• Position editor, and paste in any PGN or FEN

A GAME REVIEW WITH NOTHING BEHIND A PAYWALL
Every move graded from brilliant to blunder, an accuracy score per player, the evaluation graph, the time spent on each move, the engine's preferred move drawn on the board and the opening named. No daily limit, nothing to unlock.

Good to know.
